Canada Booth: Gone! (Day 3)

Last day at the International Festival. The Canada Booth was a great success again this year with visitors praising our display about sports and games. If you participated in the festival–either as a host or a visitor–and you have photos you would like to share with us, please send them along! (Simply use the email on our contact page.)

We’re planning on participating in the International Festival again next year; send us a note if you’re interested in joining the fun!

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who hosted the Booth today: Paul, Sharon, Joe, Shirley, Gary and Caroline.

Canada Booth: Going! (Day 2)

Second day at the International Festival and the Canada Booth is still a destination for visitors.  Having great fun telling them that James Naismith was Canadian and that we totally rock at curling! Love impressing them with the fact that we have two national sports–hockey (winter) and lacrosse (summer).  Nice to see jaws drop when they realize that their favourite board game or video game was invented by a Canadian or produced in Canada!

Many thanks to our wonderful volunteers for their energy and cheerfulness: Gary, Paul; Caroline, Geoff, Alyssa, Emilie, Martin and Greg.

Canada Booth: Go! (Day 1)

The Canada Booth is open for business and this morning we offered visitors our Canadian interpretation of the Festival theme, Games from Around the World. We were completely mobbed (there is no other word) by the hoard of children who descended upon us between 10am and 1:30pm (approximately 3000 children were expected). Trying to enter the Booth was like going through customs… you practically had to wait in line!

Here are a few pictures of today’s Booth activities.

Thanks you to Caroline, Gary,  Jen, Paul, Lynda, Sue and Dominique for hosting the Booth today. Your time, smiles and enthusiasm are much appreciated.

Canada Booth: Get set!

Team Canada worked hard this afternoon to set up the Booth. Here are a few shots of the preparations. We also had a wonderful visit: Peter Taylor from the Canadian Consulate in Atlanta and Scott Cutler, Honorary Consul of Canada in Raleigh dropped by just as we put the finishing touches.

We are most grateful to Peter, Scott and everyone at the Consulate for their generous support.

Canada Booth: On your mark!

Team Canada is getting ready for the installation of the Booth at the International Festival!  Travel the world in one weekend and visit the Canada Cultural Booth on October 14-16 at the Raleigh Convention Center. There is lots to do!

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

On the occasion of Canadian Thanksgiving, Caroline and Gary, chairs of the Canada Booth at the International Festival would like to thank (profusely) the volunteers who hosted the booth with great enthusiasm over the last three days: Darren, Dominique, Greg, Jane, Janice, Joe, Lauren, Shirley and SueA thousand thanks! Mille mercis!

Those who were not able to attend the Festival should keep an eye on the blog: Caroline and Gary will share additional photos and tidbits of information about our country’s contributions to the world gathered during long hours of research for the festival.

Happy Thanksgiving to all CanSouth members and friends! Enjoy a tune by Cage Bullard from Faison, NC, who played the fiddle for us at the Canada Booth.

Day 3 @ the Canada Booth

Third and final day of the International Festival, where the Canada Booth was again very popular with the visitors. Many indicated that they thought it was the most informative of all the cultural booths.

Here is Sunday’s Team Canada!
